butzig football club

Butzig is a self-initiated project that combines my passion for soccer with my desire to honor the amazing women in the sport. These women, who often have to work twice as hard to prove their worth to the world, deserve the same (if not more) recognition for what they do.

Inspired by the rich culture of France and its women's soccer history, I discovered Marie Louise Butzig, the woman who represented France in the first FIFA-sanctioned women’s international championship. Her legacy inspired me to name the brand in her honor, with all my design choices focused on bridging the visual gap between women’s and men’s soccer teams.

When creating the logo, I aimed to design a symbol that subtly evoked the essence of Paris without relying on obvious references. Inspired by the glass patterns of the Louvre and guided by France’s flag colors, I developed a distinctive and modern badge.

As part of the color system, I introduced a gradient, which was an intentional challenge to push myself beyond my usual preference for solid colors. This choice not only expanded my design approach but also added depth and vibrancy to the overall identity.
